Tuesday AM - Wheel & Handbuilding 2025

This class covers all levels and aspects of wheel throwing and handbuilding skills. Students will explore all forms of pottery and can discuss the commonalities and complexities of various shapes and forms. Students will work at their own levels, on their own projects to bring their ideas to life with the help of the instructor.
Group demonstrations and instruction will be based on students’ interests and questions. Individual instruction will be provided at each class to promote student success.
What do I need to bring?
- Wear old clothes or an apron.
- Closed toe shoes, NO SANDALS for safety.
- Light plastic to cover your pieces.
- Pottery tools if you have them, but we have plenty to borrow if you don't!
- Bring a friend, and have some fun.
Class includes 25lbs clay. Students may use any of the clay types but some clay bodies have an upcharge. Please pick up clay during the session. Clay may not be "banked" for future pick up. Please write your name on your clay and keep it on your student shelf. Any unopened clay not used during the session must be stored at home.
Classes may be cancelled at short notice if the minimum attendance is not achieved. Your money will be refunded should this happen.

Tuesday Afternoon Hand-building for Homeschoolers 2025

Join us for a four week session from 12:30-2:30 Tuesdays.
Ages 13 +
We will cover slab-building basics, learn to create forms from templates and delve into some out of the ordinary pinch pot projects. Additionally, students will learn glazing and underglazing basics.
Plan to have a great intro to the magic of Clay!
What to bring/wear:
- Clay will be provided for the class, and studio glazes and firing.
- Wear old clothes or an apron that can get dirty.
- Closed toe shoes, NO SANDALS for safety.
- Share the class information with others, and have some fun.

Tuesday PM – Beginning & Intermediate Wheel Throwing 2025

This course is for the beginner through intermediate level pottery student and provides instruction on basic pottery making techniques. Topics include introduction to throwing on the potter’s wheel, applying glaze and introduction to firing in an electric kiln. Students will work on self-directed independent projects with impromptu discussions and demonstrations based on individual needs. Students have the opportunity to work on individual clay projects of their choice and at their own pace to develop their skill level and personal style while receiving guidance from the instructor.

Wednesday PM - Handbuilding & Wheel - 2025

This class is designed for any skill level and will focus on all aspects of ceramic sculpture and wheel throwing from concept to completion. We will discuss elements of 3-dimensional design, methods of constructing with clay, and surface treatments.
Students will design work based on personal interest and will be encouraged to stretch their imaginations. We will experiment with several different techniques including wheel throwing fundamentals, modeling and slab building. Students will finish their work using a range of surface treatments including texture, ceramic glaze, and polychrome.
Group demonstrations and instruction will be based on students’ interests and questions. Individual instruction will be provided at each class to promote student success. This class is intended for adults 18 years and older.
What do I need to bring?
- Wear old clothes or an apron.
- Closed toe shoes, NO SANDALS for safety.
- Light plastic to cover your pieces.

Thursday Youth Clay Explorations Ages 9-16, March 2025

This class will introduce students aged 9-16 to the wonderful workings of clay. We will teach many different handbuilding techniques for creating and finishing projects in clay.
Students will dive into their imaginations to make fun pottery pieces that can be used and treasured. The last session of class will give students a quick introduction to throwing on a potters wheel.
Clay will be provided, studio glazes and firing. Wear old clothes, closed toe shoes, and bring an old towel. Bring a snack and invite a friend to register too!

Sunday Afternoon Clay Class - 2025

Please note, there will be no class Easter weekend, April 20th, 2025.
This class is suitable for beginning to intermediate students. We will concentrate on the basics of wheel throwing from centering, opening, and shaping of a pot, with the initial focus on understanding the basics of making the foundational shape of cylinders. Once you have achieved those, the world of clay opens to you!
Students will work at their own pace and level, to learn the skills of the life cycle of a pot from wedging clay, trimming, glazing and finishing. Individuals with be helped at their own level of skill, with group or individual demonstrations as required. We want to encourage learning, experimenting and technique improvement.
