Beginner Watercolor Painting, Series of 6 classes, 2026

Watercolor artist, Beth Bale, will be teaching a series of beginner watercolor painting classes, January through March.  These classes are for people who want to learn watercolor techniques and become more confident in their use of this amazing artistic medium.  No experience is necessary.   Students will be taught specific watercolor techniques each class and Beth will do demonstrations of these techniques. Students will create a painting each class as she guides the class in the painting for the day.  The classes will focus on animals, landscapes, and more (with input from the students who sign up).  Classes are fun and supportive.  Beth is an encouraging teacher.

 

Students will be sent the materials list for the classes so they can have their own supplies or may use Beth’s paints, paper, brushes and palettes for $5/class.  Students using Beth’s 4 basic supplies will still need to bring the other basic items on the materials list.

 

Cost: $150 for the series of 6 classes (sorry, but there are no refunds for classes missed)

Dates: Sunday, January 11th & 25th; February 8th & 22nd; and March 8th & 22nd. Please note these are not consecutive dates.

Time: 4:30pm to 6:30pm

Mud Puppy Studio Time - March 2026

Please read the mud puppy policy document on our website before agreeing or applying for mudpuppy.

Upon registration you will be placed into a waiting list so we can confirm your registration. Mud Puppy is open access to the studio for students who can work independently. To be eligible, all mud puppies must have attended at least 3 full sessions of classes with ClayWorx Studios in order to be considered eligible. Consideration is based on the recommendation of the instructors. Safety in the studio is paramount.

If you are new to mud puppy, please contact us at clayworxstudios@gmail.com prior to signing up.  We refer the right to turn down independent access based on an individual's experience.

Monthly Mudpuppy fee schedule: 

  • $250/month - dual enrollment discount of 20% off the lowest priced item out of class or mudpuppy.*
  • You may bring your own clay or purchase clay from the studio $25/bag (upcharges apply where applicable see clay chart on the studio wall).
  • Access to studio glazes

Firing fees:

  • bisque $3.75 per ½ shelf minimum, $7.50 per shelf, or $30 full kiln. 
  • glaze $10 per ½ shelf minimum, $20 per shelf, or $80 full kiln 
  • Height on tall pieces must to be considered - up to 8” one shelf, 8-12” 2 shelves high, 12-18” 3 shelves high, 24” plus is 4 shelves. 

*Duel enrollment discount – all work made outside of the 3-hour class time is subject to firing fees as listed above.

 

We work on an honors system for determining your firing fees based on your production. If you are taking a class, fees for those pieces are exempt.  Fees are due at the end of each month, and please make payment in a timely fashion. 

Mud puppies may only use bay 2 of the studio during scheduled class time, main studio and wheels are not available.  The studio is closed to Mud Puppies on Friday mornings until 12:00 Noon and every other Wednesday morning for cleaning (please check the studio Google calendar for specific dates).

Mud puppies are in the studio for their own independent work. If they attend and wish to participate in a class, they need to enroll in that class separately. 

Your registration is for you alone. If you wish to bring ad hoc guests, please contact clayworxstudios@gmail.com to make arrangements prior to using the studio resources.

You will be given a key code to access the studio.  A maximum of 4 Mud Puppy participants will be assigned at any time. The agreements are from the 1st to the end of the month.

 

We are not accepting production potters at this time due to kiln capacity.

Thursday Youth Clay Explorations Ages 9-16, March 2026

This class will introduce students aged 9-16 to the wonderful potential of clay. We will teach many different handbuilding techniques for creating and finishing projects in clay.

Students will dive into their imaginations to make fun pottery pieces that can be used and treasured. The last session of class will give students a quick introduction to wheel work.

Clay will be provided, studio glazes and firing. Wear old clothes, closed toe shoes, and bring an old towel. Bring a snack and invite a friend to register too!

Classes may be cancelled at short notice if the minimum attendance is not achieved. Your money will be refunded should this happen. Please help us spread the word to other friends to get the class to run..

Sunday Afternoon Clay Class - 2026

Please note the dates are not consecutive. The studio will be closed for Spring Break March 30th - April 5th.

This class is perfect for beginning to intermediate students. We'll start with the basics of wheel throwing from centering, opening, and shaping of a pot. We'll focus on understanding the basics of making the foundational shape of cylinders first. Once you have achieved those, the world of clay opens up for you!

Students will work at their own pace and level, to learn the skills of the life cycle of a pot from wedging clay, trimming, glazing and finishing. We'll helo you are your own level of skill, with group or individual demonstrations as needed. We want to encourage learning, experimenting and improving your technique.

What do I need to bring?

  • Wear old clothes or an apron.
  • Closed toe shoes, NO SANDALS for safety.
  • Light plastic to cover your pieces.
  • Pottery tools if you have them, but we have plenty to borrow if you don't!
  • Bring a friend, and have some fun.

Class includes 25lbs clay.  Students may use any of the clay types but  some clay bodies have an upcharge. Please pick up clay during the session. Clay cannot be "banked" for future pick up. Please write your name on your clay and keep it on your student shelf. Any unopened clay not used during the session must be stored at home. 

Classes may be cancelled at short notice if the minimum attendance is not reached. Your money will be refunded should this happen. 

This class is intended for adults 18 years and older.

Monday AM Introduction To Pottery Making (wheel and hand-building) 2026

This class is open to all levels and is designed for beginners to explore a variety of pottery making techniques. Start your clay adventures off by building a great foundation with class demonstrations and guided lessons. Each class will focus on the fundamentals you need to develop your skills. We’ll explore building with slabs, coils, pinching and throwing along with trimming and finishing touches that get amazing results.

What do I need to bring:

  • Wear old clothes or an apron
  • Closed toe shoes, NO SANDALS for safety
  • Light plastic to cover your pieces 
  • Pottery tools if you have them, but we have plenty to borrow if you don't!
  • Bring a friend, and have some fun.

Monday Afternoon Handbuilding - Basics and Beyond 2026

Discover the endless possibilities hand building has to offer to make functional and unique pottery.  Students of all experience levels will enjoy learning new techniques in this class.

We will focus on a variety of slab forming methods and surface decoration to create visual interest.

Learn how to make and use your own templates, stamps, sprig molds and bisque molds to enhance your work. Add volume and change the basic cylinder using altering techniques. Students with wheel experience will learn how to combine thrown and hand built components to alter pieces and create even more complex forms.

  • Wear old clothes or an apron.
  • Closed toe shoes, NO SANDALS for safety.
  • Light plastic to cover your pieces.
  • Pottery tools if you have them, but we have plenty to borrow if you don't!

Monday PM - Handbuilding & Wheel - 2026

Please note the dates are not consecutive. The studio will be closed for Spring Break March 30th - April 5th.

This class is designed for any skill level and will focus on all aspects of ceramic sculpture and wheel throwing from concept to completion. We will discuss elements of 3-dimensional design, methods of constructing with clay, and surface treatments.

Students will design work based on personal interest and will be encouraged to stretch their imaginations. We will experiment with several different techniques including wheel throwing fundamentals, modeling and slab building. Students will finish their work using a range of surface treatments including texture, ceramic glaze, and polychrome.

Group demonstrations and instruction will be based on students’ interests and questions. Individual instruction will be provided at each class to promote student success. This class is intended for adults 18 years and older. 

What do I need to bring:

  • Wear old clothes or an apron
  • Closed toe shoes, NO SANDALS for safety
  • some light plastic to cover your pieces (drycleaning bags are the best)
  • pottery tools if you have them, but we have plenty to borrow if you don't!
  • bring a friend, and have some fun.
