Layered Slip Surfaces Workshop with Amy Irish (2-part workshop)
with Amy Irish

Amy Irish makes functional and decorative work out of her home studio in Hillsborough, NC. She uses wheel thrown pottery and a complex process of layered slip and underglazes to create one of a kind works.
In this 2-part workshop we will layer techniques using slips such as combing, stamping, brushing, paper resist and trailing. Amy will go through her process starting with leather hard clay and finishing with glazing to achieve dynamic surfaces with visual depth and texture. She will share recipes, tools, and tricks. While her work is primarily illustrative, the process in which she layers materials has infinite surface possibilities.

Finished pieces should be ready for pick-up within two weeks.
Max of 14 participants. All materials provided except for original leather hard pieces that participants make ahead of time and bring to the workshop (any cone 5/6 clay is fine).
